The Emergency Service Unit in the Prime Minister's Office has issued 360 pieces of corrugated iron roofing sheets worth Tsh.5,400,000 to 36 families of Makuyuni ward that were left homeless in stormy rainfall on December 25 last year.
The emergency support was announced at the village by its executive officer (VEO), Mepukori Meyasi after the Prime Minister had earlier visited the affected villagers.
While on the visit of the village after the storm, the Prime Minister Edward Lowasa called on the people to build stronger structures for safer housing of their families and plant more trees that would act as wind breakers during stormy weather.
The village chairman, Daudi Sulle told news reporters that they were all prepared to plant more trees to avoid future destruction of their homes and property.
The villagers thanked the emergency unit for its support.
